JAKARTA (sijori.id) - PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) held a ceremonial handover of the official G20 Summit vehicles to the Ministry of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia at Tennis Indoor Senayan. Hyundai handed over 393 units of Hyundai electric cars consisting of the Genesis Electrified G80 and IONIQ 5, as vehicles for the delegates of the G20 Summit. This is a form of HMID's commitment to supporting the G20 Presidency of Indonesia 2022 and implementing the G20 Summit, which will take place on 15-16 November in Nusa Dua, Bali.

At this ceremonial event, Young Tack Lee, as President of Hyundai Motor Asia Pacific Headquarters handed over the Genesis Electrified G80 and Hyundai IONIQ 5. This activity also provided a test drive of the two electric vehicles for participants of the ceremony.

Young Tack Lee, President of Hyundai Motor Asia Pacific Headquarters, said, “We are proud that Indonesia is hosting the G20 Summit; thus, we provide our full support for the continuity and the success of this event. Supporting the provision of Hyundai and Genesis electric cars as the official vehicle for the G20 delegation is proof of our commitment as an automotive company that supports accelerated mobility and the era of electrification in Indonesia."

Hyundai provides 44 units of Genesis Electrified G80 Special Edition Long-Wheelbase exclusively produced in Korea for the G20, marked by the G20 logo on the pillar; 87 Genesis Electrified G80 Regular Model Standard-Wheelbase; as well as 262 units of Hyundai IONIQ 5 that are produced in Indonesia. Genesis Electrified G80 Special Edition Long-Wheelbase will be used as a VVIP vehicle, while Genesis Electrified G80 Regular Model Standard-Wheelbase and Hyundai IONIQ 5 will be used for other purposes such as spouses’ vehicles, protocols, security, and rescue team.

Pratikno, State Secretary of Republic Indonesia stated “Thank you very much for Hyundai which has supported Indonesia on many occasions as well as preparing for the G20 Summit in Bali. Thank you because Hyundai has provided 393 electric vehicles and that is the largest number provided.

Especially, because it has also provided a special edition for the Head of State for G20, namely the Genesis Electrified G80. For us, the G20 is a very good momentum to show that we are moving for clean energy, moving for a green economy, especially to develop an ecosystem for manufacturing electric vehicles.”

The tangible manifestation of Hyundai's support at the G20 Summit stems from the first announcement of the Hyundai Motor Group at the exhibition entitled 'The Future EV Ecosystem for Indonesia' which was held at the end of 2021. On that occasion, Hyundai revealed the appointment of the Genesis G80 Electrified as the official vehicle for all state leaders attending the G20 Summit.

In addition to providing electric cars as the official vehicle for the G20 Summit, Hyundai also held a G20 Driver Training last September (21/9) at Hyundai Training Academy, as an introduction to vehicle functions and driving experience for Presidential Security Force and TNI personnel. This training provided for participants to experience firsthand the performance, comfort, and safety of the Genesis Electrified G80 and Hyundai IONIQ 5. In addition, the personnels also received hands-on materials and practices such as product knowledge, various functions, features and the latest technology available in both electric cars. They were also provided with training on preventing emergency incidents that may occur in cars and how to deal with them.

Genesis is a global luxury automotive brand from the Hyundai Motor Group that delivers the highest standards in terms of performance, design, safety and innovation, while continuing to drive a sustainable future. With a growing lineup of luxury models, Genesis targets a position as a leader in the electrification era. The Electrified G80 is the first premium EV model from Genesis to be appointed as the official VIP car for state dignitaries at the G20 Summit and presents a new standard for luxury electric sedans due to its high level of performance and technology.

On the exterior, this model has an eye-catching shape with an aerodynamic grille in the form of an inverted G-Matrix pattern typical of Genesis. On the interior side, of course, Genesis provides the best in its class by presenting the concept of 'Beauty of White Space' with environmentally friendly materials throughout the interior so that it exudes the sustainable value that Genesis wants to realize.

Meanwhile, IONIQ 5 is a mid-size electric car from Hyundai that has been getting an overwhelming response since the car was launched. The presence of the IONIQ 5 is a new breakthrough and a historic step in the country's automotive industry because it is the first pure electric car (Battery Electric Vehicle/BEV) to be mass-produced in Indonesia, to be precise at the Hyundai factory in Cikarang, West Java.
